OK, just had to look it up after I said it… the OTHER AMAZING National Anthem rendition: Hendrix, Woodstock.
BTW, anyone else noticed how he KINDA looks like Will Smith?
Since it’s July 4th (and I JUST got up, yessir), I figured we gotta start this off with the ONLY rendition of the National Anthem that matters: Marvin Gaye.
Now, I know there has been some amazing renditions (Hendrix at Woodstock & pre-crack Whitney at the Super Bowl stand out), but SERIOUSLY, have you ever heard 1) poeple hooting & hollering DURING the National Anthem and 2) a spontaneous SOUL CLAP towards the end.
ONLY MARVIN could make the National Anthem… sexy.
This video is beyond awesome. Just thinking about coordinating this is making my brain hurt. Need to plan something out like this soon. iChat/Oovoo anyone?

Project 365: The Live Paint
(taking advantage of Tumblr’s new photoshow feature)
These are the results of the live painting done at The Button Mashers show. The paintings are collaborative pieces between RZone, Shaun Castro, Janel Natividad & Philippe Anthony.
The concept of the pieces were that each artist started a piece, but during a two hour stretch, rotated & worked on the other canvases every 15 minutes.
It was really an interesting exercise in stretching the artists creativity.
Now, there’s only three because Rick, the Pastor of OlaNui! had his choice of the pieces first & decided to take Shaun’s piece.
If you are interested in a piece, contact me (atypicalliving at gmail dot com). Proceeds from the sale of these pieces will go to the Revolution 09 Youth Camp.
